I am influenced by many art movements, the Surrealists like René Magritte (aesthetically sublime) or Marc Chagall and Paul Klee (sheer poetry). I am also touched by some abstract painting. For instance, Jackson Pollock’s “drip and splash” style moves me, and in its apparent secrecy I find an extremely poetic language. I like detail, texture, materials, ensembles, paintings which convey poetry. Since 2000, I have been working on “The Aerialists” series, opening myself up to fantasy and am plunged into new textures and colors.
Techniques frequently used: Acrylic painting and Mixed media:
– Gel acrylic to generate volume and shade, then coloured with acrylic painting.
– Collage to get texture: wrinkled paper of base, then painted with acrylic.
– The use of synthetic enamel to generate dripped and getting freedom.
– The use of multiple tools to apply the painting and get textures and transparencies in cities and skies: sponges, cloths, rollers, combs, stamps with diverse materials.
