artist statement
My artwork is organic - constantly evolving with flow of vibrant energy through colour and texture.
I deduce that one of my stronger attributes as an artist, is my creative ability to blend a diverse range of media using undertones of music and the turbulence of life experiences.
The act of creation is usually like a journey; an interactive process between myself, the canvas and the paint.
My work is based on the concept of infusing moods and elements. My paintings are vivid, full of life and colour, because this is what I am. They are a reflection of my inner self; the respect of the life I lead and treasure.
Titles are often instantaneous and typically infer a correlation between the piece and a snapshot of life at that moment.
Each painting is an eclectic mix of messages open to the interpretation of all.
My work is not prescriptive because I have my own influences and this can only serve to inspire me more. Free will is a prerequisite for my work.
My "acrylics" are in different sizes and are all extremely marketable depending on your taste and statement.
My "acrylics" - merely all abstract expressionist pieces - are "my statement",
they are "my will",
they are "me".

artist statement
This new body of work represents a turning point in my personal struggle to further pursue the unlocking of my artistic self-constraint, to look for an aesthetic that is unfamiliar, perhaps not of this time, but at least one that I have not seen before. It is an attempt to express that which is not me, an oscillation between two poles, me and not me, a quest to express a dialogue outside of my own realm.

artist statement
When I paint these pictures I am aware of the materiality of them; the paint, the paper, colours, textures. They come intuitively and instinctively from within. A process of letting go and opening up.
Then come all the decisions about how to get the thing right. Many layers and many changes, much work over lengths of time. Sometimes a slow and gentle building of surfaces, patiently piecing fragments together, sometimes vehemently tearing away. They carry weight and light, surface texture and illusion, a reverence for the elements, the force and the form of nature, a world of contrasts and tensions; images of time and space.
What becomes evident later is that somehow contained within these pictures is the 'spirit' or 'essence' of a place or experience. The tissue paper in particular seems, by it's rich surface texture and movement contrasting with its diaphonous and ethereal effect, to contain elements of flesh and spirit.
Comments
"Gail de Cordova works with paint and tissue. An Isabelle Allende of visual art, her images invoke ghosts, nostalgia and mysticism together with the very real power of the lands she has known, primarily Cornwall, Spain and France. Her work spans time - from a child to an adult's remembrance. Caught, released or transformed by memory, emotion, colour and form.
A language of her own that speaks to us."
Suzanne Jasileck, Suisho Gallery, 1999

I have been involved in the arts for many years. Exploring space and colour, sound and form is what I do. I work in any medium which suits the work - the work chooses the medium.

Comments
Ivana’s work is unpretentious. She makes a conscious effort to reveal the process of hand and material interaction and through this honesty of approach invites the viewer to share some core human response. Her work evokes an image of how an archaeologist might feel when lifting a 2nd century earthenware prize find from out of the dry parched earth, holding it high, to breathe once more an enchanted moment with some forgotten humanity.

artist statement
A number of years ago I was encouraged by a good friend of mine, a well known children's book illustrator, to turn my hand to children's illustration. Although quite late in my art career, I found with much delight that I not only enjoyed it but that from an artistic standpoint it offered an exciting new set of visual challengers - ones which I was determined to master.
My first illustration attempts were often solid and static affairs, like the wax work equivalent of living people. It took me time to loosen up, to begin to express through these invented characters facets of people that surround me in my everyday life.
I hope you have enjoyed some of my art and should you wish to purchase an illustration, please contact me by using my contact form.

To date I have completed three educational school books for the Madrid publishing house Santillana and had cartoons published in "Private Eye".

artist statement
Maybe I am just old fashioned or mad but I believe that a painting should mean something, it should be recognised for what it is without confusion. Sometimes I can paint a landscape from my imagination and when it is finished I look at it for hours. Sometimes I will add to it and sometimes erase. Often, when I sleep, I walk in that landscape, I touch the trees, smell the grass and feel the breeze. When I tell my wife this, she says that I am going crackers and should see a shrink.... May be she is right!
Comments
Ron Redshaw's landscapes full of raw emotion are evocative of the Romantic landscape painters of the early 1800s who emphasized imagination over reason.

artist statement
The style or approach to painting that I use is one based on a sense of design that was confirmed for me by two formative years spent in Italy after graduating from Art College in the 1970s. At the same time a sensuous enjoyment of colour is important to me, stemming as it does I think from a childhood spent partly in the tropics when my family lived in Africa. Cornwall has brought together these personal tastes of mine through its landscape, culture and over-arching quality of maritime light.
C.V.
Born in Yorkshire my early education was in Huddersfield. I gained an honours degree in Fine Art at Newcastle-upon-Tyne University and on graduating in 1971 was awarded a Bunzl travel scholarship to study in Italy. I returned to the U.K. in 1973 and lived for seven years in Bath, training as a teacher at Bristol University.
I taught Art in Bath, London and Cornwall from 1976 to 1999 and was head of Art at Mounts Bay School, Penzance from 1982 to 1999.
I was elected to membership of the National Acrylic Painters Association in January 2007.
I've been a practicing Buddhist since 1983 ( see www.sgi-uk.org ).
