Create portrait paintings

Lisa Kelly

I mainly create portrait paintings that are very expressive and sometimes even abstract. I like to use palette knives or other random tools such as lolly pop sticks to create my work because i find that they allow me to create thick expressive lines and textures, which add depth to my portraits. However I do believe that we all need variety, therefore i also like to explore art techniques by painters such as the impressionist, whose use of colour in particular is captivating and beautiful. I take inspiration from many different sources such as music, photography, film and sports. When I hear clever lyrics or amazing harmonies I am always inspired to work harder at perfecting my own art. Similarly, when i see a sports person at the top of their game, winning tournaments and medals, it makes me believe that anything is possible if you work hard and have passion.
